This sunflower was designed in the spring of 2022, as the war in Ukraine began. The sunflower is Ukraine’s national flower, and Kate placed a single heart at its center — a simple way of saying what so many of us felt: we’re with you.
It launched as a fundraiser for World Central Kitchen’s Ukraine relief work, which delivered meals to Ukrainian people and refugees across eight countries. Then something wonderful happened. Quilters, makers, and friends everywhere put the shirt on and flooded social media with smiles and sunflowers under #SunflowersInMyHeart. Together, you raised more than $5,000 for WCK, and this became the best-selling t-shirt we’ve ever made.
It’s still one of our favorites: a big, golden bloom with a heart at its core, and a reminder that a lot of small kindnesses add up to something that matters.
What fabric is this t-shirt made of?
- Solid colors are 100% airlume combed ring-spun cotton for exceptional softness
- Heather colors: 52% combed and ring-spun cotton, 48% polyester
- Athletic Heather and Black Heather: 90% combed and ring-spun cotton, 10% polyester
- Lightweight 4.2 oz./yd.² (142.4 g/m²) fabric
- Regular fit with side-seamed construction
- Crew neck with cover-stitched collar
- 2" (5 cm) ribbed cuffs for lasting shape
- Runs true to size — size up for a relaxed fit
Care Instructions
- Machine-wash cold, inside-out on a gentle cycle with mild detergent and like colors. Use non-chlorine bleach only when necessary. Do not use fabric softeners or dry-clean the items.
- Tumble-dry on a low cycle, but hang-drying works best.
- Iron inside-out using a cool iron. Do not iron the print.
